Stansted Link Bridges

Airports

Mark Heeley have been engaged as structural consultants on two separate link bridge contracts at Stansted Airport during the 1990’s and early 2000.

The first contract carried out in 1997 involved the provision of approximately 150 lineium metres of link bridges and staircases to the apron associated with the expanding airline business.

The units comprised welded structures with 100 thick
insitu concrete slabs.

Our experience on this contract assisted us in obtaining commission to carry out a further four link bridges and staircases again with Mansell Plc in 2002.

The current second contract extensive design development work was carried out to enable the link bridge provision to take on a generic and easily
repeatable format.

All the link bridge structures have been provided with piled foundation systems thus limiting the impact of under controlled mass concrete on this extensively serviced sub ground.

Mark Heeley retain a significant amount of electronic setting out data with regard to the airport in general and are well suited to carry out further works of this nature due to our existing expertise and proximity to the airport.
