Marks Heeley were approached by Bourne Wood
Partnership to carry out complete design for a
pedestrian access from the A46 to the new Dixon
distribution site adjacent the A1.

The brief included full liaison with the Highways
Agency (AMScott) and agreement to the profile and
layout of the proposed access which the design
solution to which included five spans of bridge.

Full architectural and structural design was carried out
by MH and included a single central span supported
on insitu concrete piers at 42.5m long.

Foundation works and abutments were completed in
advance of the fabricated steelwork bridge.

All sections of the bridge were lifted in by a 500 tonne
capacity crane on a single night closure.
