Highams Park School & Sports Centre

Education

The Highams Park School and Sports Centre has been designed to compliment the existing school facilities. The project included the construction of a new teaching block and the construction of a new prestigious sports centre facility. Structurally these buildings have been formed using steel frames supporting insitu concrete cast on permanent metal formwork. Construction is due to be completed Easter 2009. The designs have incorporated the latest green technologies in utilising materials which are obtained from sustainable sources and also incorporating the storage as appropriate for natural water from roofs for irrigation and other purposes.

This project is part of an overall redevelopment of the site and is the initial phase. Foundations to the new buildings have been formed to the sports hall using a concrete pile system supporting reinforced concrete ground beams and pile caps. The teaching block has been formed using mass concrete foundation bases bearing in the natural clay strata.
